Home sweet home: the resounding words said after my 2013 first Indy car test. Arriving in the beating of the day, I meet the team "Loophole Racing". Three Indy car's lined in a row, everything else faded away. Introduced to Loophole Racing's David Hoffpauir, crew chief for Loophole Racing and former chief for an Indy car 500 team, he explained his love for racing with his every movement, making the surreal surroundings even more vibrant. Enjoying every moment of unforeseen blessings, Paul Dallenbech teaches the dynamics of this power-pumping Indy car. The day begins to chill and come to a fold, as the question arrises "did you bring your gear", I vigorously hunt for the mature words to reply as if I wasn't about to stop breathing from excitement in an understanding what the true question was. "I have pink race shoes" I responded, immediately realizing what my answer just was to "Do you want to drive an Indy car". I quickly restated that, indeed, I do have my gear, ALL my gear, and hurriedly rushed off to suit up. Coming back to a roaring motor and highly fume smelling air, my heart beat so hard the motor sound simply faded to the back, barley ringing in my ears. As I was coached on the unique clutch mechanics, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in...out...in...out... Game time! The crew ran behind me, pushing against this 2003 Indy car rear wing, I slipped the clutch- first gear. Second gear. Third gear. Adhered to the track, I corner every turn as the realization sunk in what I had just accomplished today. Pulling back into pits, standing ovations, screaming, celebrations, tears of joy, a little girl's day made by a simple signature. I grew a "permagrin", today I had experienced my home sweet home.
